What is "Swing Bed?"

Also called sub-acute rehab, is a program designed for patients who no longer require acute hospitalization but also aren't quite ready to go home. To qualify for this program, you must have been hospitalized anywhere for three consecutive nights within the past 30 days; There must be a skilled need related to the reason you were hospitalized. Examples include continued wound care, IV antibiotic therapy, or daily Physical and Occupational Therapy after joint replacement or stroke.

Goals of "Swing Bed"

Safety and independence are two major goals. Hospital stays are shorter now and patients are often discharged before they are ready to function safely and independently at home. Participating in a "Swing Bed" program bridges the gap between hospitalization and home, allowing you to remain in our facility and focus on continued healing and strengthening to return home successfully.

How is "Swing Bed" different?

Even though you'll be in the same hospital room, the goal is to continue treatments and therapies initiated during your hospitalization. You can expect the doctor to see you on a weekly basis, rather than daily as he/she monitors your progress.

Who pays for my "Swing Bed" stay?

Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance companies.
